How does one connect with the land one lives on? How does one connect with one’s ancestors? One reaches deep into the beauty and power of creation (the Source) through the natural world and through the ancestors, offering love and respect, opening oneself to the flow of energy we call awen.

One’s depth of experience is amplified by the depth of the relationship one forges with the source of inspiration, the more we offer the opportunity for deeper trust and profound intimacy, the more connected we become in our communion.

The experience of communion with the Source, through opening to receive Awen through the web of spirit, identifies one’s perception and experience within the world within which one lives. It heightens the awareness and causes an increased flow of energy. It opens the mind to different levels of reality, broadening one’s perception and enhances one’s experiences of life as a whole.

Acknowledging that we are connected spirit to spirit, tree to bird, woman to man, human to land, time to ancestors is an essential part in understanding one’s connection to the web of spirit, to the source of Awen.

We consciously learn to allow the perfect fluidity to flow once again through our souls, revitalizing us… and the entire world.

The Quest for the Holy Grail

The idea of the grail as being the sacred elixir of life is common among Celts. The idea of it holding the wisdom of perfect knowledge, of rebirth or eternal life, of soul-deep healing, is more of a riddle than meant to be taken literally. For example, the quest for the Grail is not for a cup, but for an endless supply of pure inspiration. In the Celtic tradition we call this the quest for awen.

Awen

Awen: the flow of clear life energy, creative life force, of shattering clarity, of our soul’s creativity, bringing one’s heart the gift of fulfillment.

Awen is a welsh word poetically translated as ‘sacred inspiration’. Literally it means ‘flowing spirit’. It is the essence of life, the creative energy which flows through the universe. It is the passion of love, a child’s laughter, a poetic tear. Some say it is a ‘poetic frenzy’… the energy that flows between artist and muse.

Finding a creative outlet is an essential part of good living. The creativity that truly feeds us is specific: a particular subject, a certain animal, or possibly even a type of music. It is our choice, our freedom and the exhalation of our identity.
