Anima Loci
Anima Loci: a spiritual philosophy rooted deeply in the land, yet allowing itself to evolve with the passage of time. It honors our environment and each individual’s reality within that environment. It is a philosophy that contains within it the exploration of sacred relationships, spirit to spirit.

What inspired me to write a definition of this was a new friend who liked my Graphite Pencil Portraits. I started looking at a Wolf I had on the wall and was observing the traits of animals in my mind. I feel anima loci is a belief that is inspired by animals. Here are my observances.
Animals
Animals are in touch with the needs and drives of their bodies. They act upon these needs whenever they are present; when they are tired they sleep, when they are scared they fight or run, when they are hungry they eat – they do what they feel.
From animals we can learn many things. Among these are learning to let go and move on when the situation turns for the worst. We learn that possession is fleeting. And we learn that we are deeply connected to the earth in our needs.
Conclusion
I feel by observing animals we get in touch with the true spirit of anima loci. There is so much we can learn and apply in our daily lives that would deeply benefit us and the people around us.
Thanks for reading my post on meaning of Anima Loci. Feel free to elaborate in the comments box.
